After a convincing 2-0 defeat by the Nigerian Super Eagles,Coach of Ethiopia’s national team, Sewnet Bishaw, has blamed poor officiating for his side’s defeat to Nigeria.
The Super Eagles defeated the Walya Antelopes 2-1 in Addis Ababa and 2-0 in Calabar and Sewnet is of the opinion that the referee helped the hosts qualify.
“It wasn’t the best of officiating, the referee was against us and helped Nigeria to win,” he said.
The defeat was courtesy of goals by the Nigerian Super Eagles side with the opening goal by Victor Moses and the second by Obinna Nsofor in the last hours of the match.
Nigeria has been struggling through the initial stages of the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers but with this win moves into the next level of the Federation of International Football Association(FIFA) Brazil 2014 World Cup.
In reaction to Bishaw’s comments,Nigeria’s Super Eagles Coach,Stephen Keshi said: “We defeated them in their country, was that the referee’s help too? Ethiopia is a good side but we are just better”.
