Multiple explosions was today reported in the Capital city of Maiduguri where governors of the newly formed opposition All Progressive Alliance, APC held a meeting to further cement the merger arrangement between four political parties in the country.
The blasts which occurred Thursday afternoon is believed to have lead to the death of some soldiers, A security official spoke who spoke on condition of anonymity said soldiers were killed in the blasts, but did not have any other information.
Soon after reports of the explosions was reported, concerns were raised as to the safety of the governors who were meeting in the ancient town, but these concerns were doused when elder statesman, Ali Munguno announced that all Gov’s who attended the APC meeting in Maiduguri have departed safely to their various Destination.
Aleast 10 Governors from the opposition parties were in attendance at the meeting when the explosion reportedly went off. The meeting is a high point for the opposition party and considered to be strategic because the President has not visited Borno State since the inception of the Boko Haram insurgency.
