The Nigerian Super Eagles knocked out Cote D’Ivoire to grab a ticket to the semi final of the Afcon (African Cup of Nations) 2013 cup.

The Eagles, who were able to jink past the Ivorians ended the match in a 2-1 victory. The opening goal was scored by  Emmanuel Emenike, who converted a free kick into a goal. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of the Super Eagles.

Didier Drogba’s free kick found Tiote’s head, who buried his header into the net to grab an equalizer for the opponents.

A late strike from locally-based midfielder Mba, in the last 12 minutes of the game gave Nigeria they victory they needed much.

There was a brief threat in injury time as a cluster of set pieces saw the Ivorians throw everything forward, but in truth Nigeria were comfortable as they closed out a famous win and a place in the last four.
